In August, we're taking 23,000 steps to support lion conservation. Did you know that over 88% of lions have disappeared in the last century? Their numbers have plummeted from around 200,000 to just 23,000 due to trophy hunting, poaching, human-wildlife conflict, and habitat loss. Can you imagine a world without these magnificent creatures? I don't know anyone who wouldn't be devastated if lions disappeared from the wild. 

But there is hope! We have chosen to fundraise for Born Free because we are passionate about wildlife conservation. Born Free has rescued nearly 60 lions from captivity or in distress. Like Bellone, one of the Lions of Lockdown, rescued from a miserable life in a European circus, now thriving at the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary at Shamwari, South Africa. Then there's Moja the lion, ensnared in a deadly trap, who was spared from an agonising fate by their heroic Pride of Meru Team in Kenya.

Born Free protects species and habitats, advocates for compassionate conservation and lobbies for wild animal welfare worldwide. With your help, we can fund vital projects like anti-poaching initiatives, habitat restoration, and community education to promote peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife.
